We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer in Sunderland, Sunderland to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supervising the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for commercial, industrial, or scientific use. The role demands a combination of innovative thinking, technical excellence, and practical problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
- Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
- Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
- Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications.
- Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
- Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
- Prepare specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
- Supervise and train project team members as necessary.
- Investigate and test vendors’ and competitors’ products.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or further education is advantageous.
- Proven working experience in electrical engineering.
- Deep knowledge of electrical manufacturing processes, electrical systems, circuit design, and testing methods.
- Familiarity with electrical and engineering software and equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent project management and supervision skills.
- Ability to work with multiple discipline projects.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Professional Engineering license is preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- The role typically requires working in an office setting, with occasional visits to sites and manufacturing plants.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
- Ability to work on-site and inspect equipment and processes, which may involve various physical activities including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
