Associate, Credit Analyst – 1st LOD, Energy
This role sits in a first line-of-defence function, working closely with front office bankers to support lending decisions and ensure an appropriate risk-return profile. The team is sector-aligned and manages diversified EMEA-wide portfolios, with analysts playing a key role across live transactions and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
The position is within the Energy sector team, covering Oil & Gas, Metals & Mining and Chemicals, primarily focused on European counterparties. You will be responsible for producing forward-looking fundamental credit analysis to support new client onboarding, transaction execution, renewals and annual reviews. Over time, the role offers the opportunity to develop deep sector expertise and detailed counterparty understanding through a structured top-down and bottom?up risk assessment approach.
You will have experience in fundamental credit analysis gained within a bank, asset manager or rating agency, ideally in a transaction-led environment. Newly qualified ACA or ACCA professionals with strong analytical skills and an interest in banking will also be considered. A solid understanding of financial statements, cash flow analysis and credit risk is essential, along with the ability to communicate insights clearly and concisely. Experience with investment-grade and non-investment-grade counterparties is desirable, and energy sector exposure is advantageous but not essential.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated credit professional seeking exposure to complex sectors, live deal work and long-term career development within a collaborative, high-quality credit environment.
