Account Handler – Onshore Energy (Midstream & Downstream)

We’re working with a highly regarded specialist insurance broker to recruit an experienced Account Handler/Exec to join their Onshore Energy team, supporting a diverse portfolio of midstream and downstream energy clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Account Handler looking to work on technically complex, international energy risks, within a collaborative and professional environment that places real value on service excellence and long-term client relationships.

The Team

The Onshore Energy team works with clients ranging from midstream start-ups to large national oil companies with global footprints. The team is recognised for its professionalism, technical capability and commitment to service excellence, adding value across both the placement and claims lifecycle.

Backed by in-house engineering expertise, the team delivers bespoke insurance programmes for construction and operational risks, including property damage and loss of revenue, across the midstream and downstream energy sectors.

The portfolio includes exposure to risks such as:

Midstream

• Tank farms and terminals

• Pipelines

• Gas processing and compression

• Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)

• Hydrocarbon storage

• Oilfield property

• Coal gasification

Downstream

• Refining (FCC and hydro-skimming)

• Petrochemicals

• Polymers

• Fertilisers

• Biofuels

• Plastics and chemicals

The Role

As an Account Handler, you will play a key role in supporting brokers and servicing clients, acting as a central point of coordination across renewals, documentation and ongoing account management.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the day-to-day servicing of a portfolio of onshore energy clients

• Supporting renewal processes, including gathering underwriting information and preparing market submissions

• Producing and checking policy documentation, endorsements and evidence of cover

• Ensuring contract certainty and compliance with market and regulatory requirements

• Liaising with brokers, underwriters, engineers and claims teams

• Maintaining accurate and well-structured placing files

• Delivering a high standard of client service throughout the policy lifecycle

About You

• Proven experience as an Account Handler within insurance (energy experience advantageous but not essential)

• Strong understanding of London and/or international insurance markets

• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

• Confident communicator, comfortable working with internal and external stakeholders

• Proactive, collaborative and client-focused

• Progress towards professional insurance qualifications is desirable
