PI Underwriter

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-driven Professional Indemnity (PI) Underwriter to join their growing team. This role will focus on underwriting UK PI business across both renewals and selective new business, with the opportunity to expand into European territories depending on experience and appetite.

This is a UK-wide opportunity offering flexible working arrangements.

As part of a well-established and collaborative underwriting team, you will manage a diverse PI portfolio, develop strong broker relationships, and deliver profitable underwriting decisions aligned with the company’s risk appetite and strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and manage a portfolio of UK Professional Indemnity business across a range of professions, including renewals and targeted new business.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, providing high levels of service, responsiveness, and market insight.

  • Assess risk exposures and apply sound underwriting judgement to support profitable and sustainable portfolio performance.

  • Identify opportunities for portfolio growth, cross-selling, and product development where appropriate.

  • Contribute to underwriting strategy discussions and share insights on market trends and developments.

  • Support potential expansion into European PI markets, subject to experience and business needs.

  • Maintain accurate underwriting records and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience underwriting UK Professional Indemnity business.

  • Strong understanding of the UK PI market; exposure to European PI is advantageous but not essential.

  • Excellent analytical, risk assessment, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities, particularly with brokers and internal stakeholders.

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative approach to work.

  • Familiarity with Lloyd’s and London Market practices is beneficial.
