Software Development Manager – Multi-Stack / Technology Agnostic
Software Development Manager / Principal Software Engineer needed for a large organisation in the North West for an initial 6-month contract, which is likely to extend far beyond that.
You will be working closely with the Head of Software Development to establish best practice & set up a team of high calibre software engineers for a large scale, complex programme of work. The project is going to be challenging, rewarding and one of a kind – you will have the opportunity to really put your stamp on something that will affect most of the country!
You will also work closely with multi-disciplinary teams across the organisation to ensure the entire approach to modernising systems applications is consistent company wide.
To be successful in this role, you will be a senior software professional who has demonstrable experience of setting up and leading software teams, whilst also having a strong track record of successful delivery when it comes to large-scale, complex projects.
In an ideal world, you will be technology agnostic, with a diverse range of projects under your belt, from Java to .NET to Node.js and anything in between. You won’t have a favoured methodology, you will simply use the best approach for the project you are working on, whether that be Waterfall or Agile – or indeed, somewhere in between.
More importantly, you will be a natural leader, coach and mentor as you will be responsible for a large and talented team of engineers as well as being responsible for hiring more people into the team.
As this is such a complex organisation, stakeholder management will be absolutely critical. You will have to be comfortable presenting and talking to a host of different stakeholders from Director level to end-users.
