Ipswich Hospital provides a comprehensive range of acute and support hospital services, adopting the ethos of “Time Matters” for both our patients and staff, the gastroenterology team are currently exploring the use of virtual follow up as well as self- management apps, taking an innovative approach to ongoing demand management. The successful candidate will play an integral part in future service development. The Gastroenterology Team are looking to appoint a Consultant colleague who is committed to delivering high-quality services across the breadth of Gastroenterology. The new post-holders will join a team of five existing consultants. Our department has a reputation for being friendly and supportive with particularly good working relationships and there is capacity for a wide variety of sub-specialty interests to be accommodated and developed. The Endoscopy Unit at Ipswich has state of the art endoscopy equipment, having received an upgrade in 2018, currently running 3 theatres, 7 days a week. It is currently working toward retaining its JAG accreditation, re-inspection planned for January 2020. Specialty interests of current Gastroenterologists include Bowel Cancer Screening, HPB and OG cancer, Nutrition, EUS, IBD, Hepatology and ERCP / Therapeutic endoscopy. The Trust operates a 7 day bleeding service and therefore the job plan for these posts include a 1 in 6 GI bleeding rota that incorporates a 24/7 bleed service at weekends whilst on-call.
