Technical Author – Life Science / Biotech – Cheshire

A successful, high profile company in the Life Science, Pharmaceutical, Biotech sector is now seeking to recruit an experienced Technical Author ideally with experience in the life science, biotech, pharmaceutical or scientific sector with specific experience in Software for these markets. You will be based from offices in Cheshire.

You will report into the Documentation Manager to work as part of a team producing user documentation for highly technical products aimed at the life science markets.
Specific Tasks
• To gather information.
• To write and update user documentation.
• To contribute to the development/implementation of standards.
• To review user documentation.
• To further develop expertise in technical communication.
• To assist in project management.
Essential Skills Required
• Information gathering techniques.
• An aptitude for using complex computer software.
• Range of technical communication skills.
• The ability to use a range of authoring tools.
• Basic project management skills.
Beneficial Skills:
• Knowledge of a European foreign language.
• Some programming experience.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycles.

Essential Experience:
• A minimum of two years as a technical author.
• Experience in writing instructional, training or presentation material in a scientific environment. This may include SOPs, presentation of papers at conferences, and dissertations, as well as manuals or help systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows platforms.
• Familiarity with Adobe FrameMaker authoring tool.

Beneficial Experience:
• Understanding of relational databases.
• Experience working in a software development environment.
• Experience of analytical instruments.

The role will suit individuals currently working as Author, Technical Author, Documentation Manager, Technical Writer, Writer and living within a commutable distance of Cheshire, Sale, Warrington, Stockport, Macclesfield, Liverpool, Manchester or willing to relocate.
