Field Sales Engineer - Instrumentation
Home based, South Coast
£30-40k + Strong Bonus scheme

We’re looking for an exceptional Sales Engineer who has specific experience selling Instrumentation related technology into the Oceanography, Environmental or Marine Technology sectors. Our client has developed an innovative communications system for a range of environmental and oceanography applications.

Due to excellent growth in a number of key sectors, our client is looking for a field based Sales Engineer to focus on instrumentation. You’ll visit clients UK wide, travelling four days out of five, but mainly based along the South Coast stretch. It’s important that you could get to a Southampton based project office from time to time. You’ll typically target clients who operate in Oceanography, Hydrometry, Marine Renewable Energy, Dredging, Water Quality Monitoring and Port and Harbour operations.

There’s a good mix of new business development and account management of existing clients, with the primary focus being on identifying and winning new customers. There will be some after-sales product and customer support to handle as well.

Ideally candidates will already be selling technical products and project engineering in the target area and will have an understanding of the target customers. Sales targets include companies, government departments, academic bodies and NGOs in the areas of oceanography, environmental monitoring, and marine technology. The candidate must be capable of planning and organizing their own workload.

Job Requirements:

• Generating revenue through generating and qualifying leads, developing opportunities,
submitting proposals, negotiating and closing sales.
• Conducting product and technology demonstrations.
• Participating in trade shows / conferences.
• Forecasting sales volume, activities, and budget requirements.
• Maintaining sales pipeline and providing updates on a weekly basis.
• Reporting sales performance against agreed plan.
• Contributing information to market strategy.

Personal Requirements:

• BSc or HND in Oceanography, Control & Instrumentation, Electrical & Electronic
Engineering, or equivalent work experience
• Track record of success in similar sales role
