An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Support Engineer (Planning) to join the Steel and Slab department of a customer-focused, innovative solutions-driven company which makes hot-rolled, cold-rolled and metallic-coated strip steels and provides solutions in product design, processing technologies and management of the supply chain.
You will be based in the Steelmaking Plant which is divided into four functions, namely primary steelmaking, secondary steelmaking, refractory department and day engineering.
As Manufacturing Support Engineer, Planning you will be responsible for effectively planning and managing maintenance activities within the steel and slab area.
In particular, you will develop and implement engineering support systems and deliver cost effective maintenance and services to enable Steel and Slab Day Teams and Shift Teams to deliver the Annual Plan, in line with Manufacturing and Engineer Strategy. You will also assist the Area Manufacturing Engineers in developing the required engineering support systems, including planning models for maintenance activities using Microsoft Project; budget control systems and contract management procedures/systems.
In addition, you will manage the TEMS feedback system, producing and managing the rolling program for all outstanding plant work. You will also attend regular maintenance update meetings during plant outages and produce a post maintenance review report. Moreover, you will ensure that all purchased engineering services are measured, reviewed and developed to ensure continuous improvements in value in use, liaising with supplies as appropriate. You will ALSO ensure all work carried out complies with relevant Health and Safety, Environmental, Statutory, Mandatory and Quality standards. Finally, you will carry out risk assessments and comply with the management of change process, COSAS, Audits and Du pont Audits.
Qualified to HNC level, you will have experience of managing and planning maintenance activities. You will also have experience of managing contractors as well as experience of working within heavy industry. You will be proficient in Microsoft Project and Office and have experience of TEMS. You will also have an awareness of Triangle and of safety management, audits and permits
