The Principal Data Integration Engineer (Data Design Authority) is responsible for the design of data infrastructure and integration mechanisms for legacy systems and new large scale integrated systems.
The Data Design Authority (DDA) is responsible for the design of data collection, storage and for ensuring data integrity for all applications.
The DDA is also responsible for the following subsystem and components.
1. System data model
2. data collection toolkit data model,
3. staging server schema’s,
4. data manipulation tools,
5. migration scripts,
6. ETL tools,
7. overall system data integrity,
8. customer supplied data quality
Responsibilities:
¤ Design of large scale system architectures
¤ Liaising with the customer to establish key elements and requirements
¤ Working with third party suppliers providing system components
¤ Work with the System Integration Team to build and manage systems
¤ Supporting system upgrades and maintenance releases
¤ Ensuring system integrity is maintained and that all applicable standards are maintained
¤ Technical investigations and diagnosis
¤ Problem reporting
¤ Support the creation of user manuals and training materials to train system developers, maintainers and users
Specific responsibilities:
1. Produce data migration data schema and integrity rules
2. Overall design and technical integrity of the system logical data model
3. Support and oversee the Authority data content and quality review processes
4. ETL tool SME and production of usage guidelines with respect to data collection
5. Security responsibilities with respect to data collection, storage and handling
Expertise in designing high volume, 24/7 high availability & highly
secure applications including web-based;
Skillful in identifying architectural risks
Highly Desirable:
¤ Data structure Modelling and message flow management in the LSI
environment
¤ Working with third party COTS providers to integrate the third party
products
¤ Good understanding of performance tuning and testing techniques for a
mission critical systems
¤ Working knowledge of security principles and considerations for
systems that form part of a the Core National Infrastructure
¤ Robust understanding of integration issues as viewed from a prime
contractor and integrators perspective
