As Partial Discharge Test Engineer your role will be to contribute to the delivery of my client’s products and services by offering clients a professional and expert service.
Key Responsibilities
•Analyse customer data from permanent monitoring systems and produce technical reports for clients
•Produce technical documentation
•Carry out on-site tests in order to locate source of faults in cables using partial discharge analysis
•Liaise with customers on technical issues and solutions
•Participate in the provision of the safe working environment, adhering to the company’s and the client’s Health and Safety policies at all times.
•Up to 40% field based. Some travel to substations and client premises in London and the South East, potential for international travel in the future.
Person Specification
As Partial Discharge Test Engineer your role is deliberately wide-ranging. This is because the technology and service provided is unique, the role is highly specialised and the successful applicant will need to learn a new technology and way of working. Personal and professional qualities are more important than qualifications and experience.
The post would suit an experienced and committed engineer who has a professional and enthusiastic approach to both offices based and site work.
Qualifications and experience may be varied, but you will certainly have a Degree in Science/ Engineering or related subject. Any experience of the power industry / electricity / sub stations is also of great benefit.
As Partial Discharge Test Engineer you will:
•Produce data reports for clients and for internal use
•Established effective working relationships with clients
•Be producing test result documents
•Have established a track record of reliability and a “can-do” approach
Essential:
•Have skills and experience in producing technical written reports for clients and internal use
•Be willing and able to travel in UK and abroad
•Be self-motivating, able to work alone and under own initiative
•Hold a clean, UK driving licence
•Be trustworthy, methodical and reliable
•Be comfortable liaising with clients and have a customer service approach
•Be flexible and responsive in working patterns and hours
•Demonstrate an ability to learn and an interest in specialising in substation field work and partial discharge monitoring
•Gain a good insight into partial discharge activity

The salary for this role is negotiable and is from £24,000 to £27,000 depending on skills and experience.
