TEST ENGINEER / DEVON / £30-35K

* In this key position you will define test requirements for new products when in production. The challenges of the position also involve:
* Developing automated software solutions, including instrument control, for testing of optoelectronic components
* Defining test methodologies of new products under development, making cost effective use of the test equipment.
Design, develop, implement & debug algorithms & software to control test equipment racks to test optical components (transmitter, receiver, transponder) & analysing data generated
To apply for this exciting position, you will be an accomplished TEST ENGINEER with skills as follows:
- Demonstrated ability to develop C# (Visual Studio 2005) & Visual Basic software
- Exp using DLLs, COM & Active X
- Exp with test instrument control via GPIB (primarily)
- Familiar with optical test instrumentation (e.g. oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, communication analysers, optical spectrum analysers, electrical spectrum analysers, wave meters, temperature controllers, pulse pattern generators, error detectors, optical power meters, optical switches, optical filters, optical attenuators)
- Familiar with optical test methodology (e.g. LVs, LIs, SMSR)
- Able to follow a simple circuit diagram or equipment schematic
- Able to represent complex data in simple graphical form
- Knowledge of statistical process control methods
- Familiar with use of databases (Access & Oracle) & SQL (or PL-SQL)
- Familiar with version control software (i.e. Microsoft SourceSafe, AccuRev)
- Exp with PXI, RS-232, I2C & Ethernet
- Experience with Visual C++ / C
- Familiar with PC configuration & installation of PCI cards & software
