Test Analyst - OAT - Quality Centre /TD - Hampshire

Job Purpose:

Accountable for providing testing services, as specified by a project test manager, to projects with an IT element.

Responsibilities, activities and key deliverables

Responsible for supporting the project test manager and the test team in the development and successful execution of project test strategies and test plans which must be focussed on business requirements and be risk based i.e. focussed on minimising the risks to the business.
Responsible for supporting the project test manager and the test team in the testing of large, complex business impacting systems ensuring that there is no negative impact on the business in terms of process, revenue, quality and customer satisfaction.
Responsible for analysing project requirements, determining testing requirements, designing and creating test cases, test scripts and test data, setting up test environments, executing test cases, documenting results and defects, liaising with developers regarding defects, re-testing defects, reporting test progress to the project test manager. Also includes generating test packs prior to the start of testing and regression/re-use packs after the end of testing and backing up and archiving all testing documentation at the end of a project.
Responsible for conducting and/or supporting test activities across the appropriate testing phases of the project.
Responsible for the implementation of the testing infrastructure, to include, processes, methodologies, tools, data and environments, as appropriate for their elements of the test project as agreed with the Project Test Manager.
Work with internal and external groups to ensure that IT deliverables are of sufficiently high quality in order to enter the independent testing phase of the project lifecycle and to meet the needs of the business and other stakeholders. Examples of other groups include Strategy & Solutions development, Project Management (BTG), IT Operations and Support, Internal Audit (for SOX compliance), IT Security, Procurement (e.g. RFIs and RFPs), Legal and third parties including outsourcers.
Participate in audits and reviews of testing carried out and highlight areas for improvement.

Job Specific Qualifications and Experience:

An experienced IT professional, with significant experience working in a project or change environment within IT. Has demonstrable experience of testing within an IT function.
Professionally qualified to at least BCS ISEB Foundation level.
Has a demonstrable appreciation of development processes, lifecycles, tools and techniques, as well as IT infrastructure such as hardware, operating systems and databases, service delivery and service support concepts and processes.
Has an appreciation of the techniques used for planning and executing testing throughout the software lifecycle
Has demonstrable hands-on experience of test management tools such as Test Director.
Ability to assess the testing requirements of their part of complex projects.
A team player with a proven track record of working with project test managers, test analysts, developers, support staff, business staff, third parties and other project related staff as part of a testing project.
Has a demonstrable ability to communicate, both written and verbal, with other staff working on the project.
Has demonstrable experience of analysing, assessing and resolving complex test issues and problems.
Results and goals oriented, very hands-on and adopts a pragmatic and practical approach to testing.
Has a demonstrable ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and willing to work the extra hours when occasionally required to do so.
