Job Purpose

Manage a group of internal and external development professionals; assessing programming needs and business objectives and determine work priorities. Manage the evaluation, selection, implementation, interfacing, modification and maintenance of the company’s front and back business enterprise applications and management reporting systems. Manage software application projects by developing project plans, managing resources and timelines within budget.

£375m business; 1,500 employees; 600 PCs; 50 Workstations; Servers/Storage (TBC)

Accountabilities:

Provide direct leadership to business analysts, software developers and software engineers as their immediate manager.
Manage, lead, motivate and coach a staff of technical professionals of varying levels, augmented as appropriate, with professional consultants and temporary personnel.
Work closely with technical teams and IT management to prioritize resource load and coordinate project deliverables against detailed project plans for systems development, implementation and production support activities.
Communicate formally and informally in a timely fashion using various vehicles regarding work and status, contingencies and risk management.
Manage and provide input to department budget and forecast.
Consult with senior function managers to ensure alignment on requirements and priorities.
Assists in negotiations with consultants, technical personnel and suppliers for products and services.
Assists in providing support to end users in the selection, procurement, usage and maintenance of application software and consulting services in alignment with corporate and information technology strategic vision as set by the Director of IT.

Special Features:

There will be a requirement to build and develop the IT applications landscape from a brown-field perspective to facilitate timely migration from Airbus IT Transition Service Arrangements post Day 1.

Essential:
BSc in Computer Science or related degree or equivalent experience
Good knowledge of IS/IT technologies, policy and strategy.
Leads the successful completion of major computing application enhancements or implementations.
Business applications analysis, requirements definition, data modeling, programming, supervision and project management skills.

Desirable:

Post degree additional education
Project/programme management qualified
Good network of external IT professionals and key IT suppliers.
Good knowledge of BaaN (Infor ERP Ln) and SAP ERP systems.
Additional Technical certifications, course (e.g. Microsoft, Cognos, Programming).
Operational experience within an IT & Telecoms environment.
Good knowledge of manufacturing environments.
