Technical Support Engineer – SQL, 2003, AD
A successful, high profile company in the insurance sector is now seeking to recruit a Technical Support Engineer – SQL, 2003, AD. We are seeking a technical support engineer with good all-round technical skills and experience of working with SQL Server databases. You will have a minimum of 5 years experience of providing level 3 operational support, and will have a good working knowledge of the following specific areas:
- SQL Server 2005 and the SQL language
- Windows Server 2003 networking
- Active Directory
- TCPIP, DHCP, VPNs and DNS
- Hardware maintenance of Intel-based servers and workstations
- Maintenance, configuration and monitoring of networks, routers and switches
- Backup regimes.
Experience of maintaining telephone systems and switches would be highly desirable.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include management of in-house networks, firewalls, switches, servers, workstations, printers, and scanners, Windows 2003 domain and user account administration, Installation and maintenance of desktop applications - e.g. MS Office, ACT, etc, Providing operational support for database environments ensuring smooth day-to-day operation of scheduled database jobs, servicing of ad hoc user requests for database information using SQL queries, hardware maintenance
Please note that first-class verbal and written communication skills are absolutely essential for this role.
The role will suit individuals currently working as, 3rd Line, Support, Technical Support Engineer, Network Support Engineer, PC Support Engineer, Server Support, Database Support and living within a commutable distance of South West London, Surrey, Middlesex or willing to relocate.
