This is a very well known business within the food sector and are well known for creating brands that people love. You will contribute to this by positively influencing the continued growth of this client’s subsidiary by providing technical and personal leadership across the whole of the Environment, Health and Safety agenda. This position reports into the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities include
· To lead and develop the Environment, Health and Safety management systems ensuring continuous improvement programs are developed and implemented for EHS KPIs.
· To ensure legislative compliance and adherence to group policies and procedures, for all products and activities associated with the facilities and personnel under your control. Act as site’s main point of contact for the corporate EHS teams and for all EHS external audit bodies (e.g HSE, Environment agency, utility providers, customer audits)
· To provide clear guidance to all departmental managers for them to ensure adherence to EHS legislative requirements, group EHS polices and procedures and other external stakeholder EHS requirements.
· To develop and implement an audit program to confirm or otherwise business adherence to EHS legislative requirements, group EHS polices and procedures and other external stakeholder EHS requirements.
· To manage the departmental in-direct costs including utilities.
· To align, where appropriate, with group initiatives in order to deliver first class standards of performance
· To develop projects in line with the capital plan to deliver compliance and improvement across the EHS items.
· Ensure EHS issues are considered for all changes, (i.e. product development, product change, engineering change, capital projects, general purchasing.)
· To develop and manage the risk assessment program to ensure risk of all business activities are understood and programs are in place to reduce these risks.
· To develop and manage the required level of training and awareness within all departments to ensure sufficient skills and knowledge to implement EHS requirements
· To develop and manage the site emergency procedures.
· To act as business Energy Manager and lead the Purple Goes Green agenda to meet subsidiary and group targets
· To act as business Security Manager as appropriate
· As a member of the Operations Leadership Team demonstrate role model behaviours in order to provide consistent visible leadership
Experience Pre-Requisites
- Recognised engineering degree or equivalent business experience
- NEBOSH Health & Safety Diploma
. IOSH Membership and involvement in their continuous professional development programme
- An accredited Environmental qualification
- An up to date and comprehensive knowledge of world-class EHS practices
- An open, empowering and motivating management style
- Drive, enthusiasm and adaptability to generate optimum performance from the whole team and ensure targets are met
- Strong coaching & influencing skills
- Strong customer orientation
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to build effective partnerships both internally & externally
