Deputy Shift Engineer – Energy from Waste

The company is one of the largest waste management companies in the UK, offering a range of waste recycling, composting, recovery and disposal services to customers in both public and private sectors.

The Deputy Shift Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of operators that will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the boiler, turbine, flue gas treatment and de-mineralisation plant, plus all associated auxiliary plant. They will also be responsible for isolations and/or locking off and issue of permits for work. The Deputy Shift Engineer will also liaise with and oversee the operation of the crane driver/APO team, assist and deputise (when required to do so) for the Duty Shift Engineer. The duties of the post are varied and will also include:

- Responsibility to for all operational plant on the site
- Supervision of staff, to ensure that the safe and efficient operation of the plant
- Ensuring Environmental, Quality and Safety systems procedures are performed in line with requirements.

To be considered for the Deputy Shift Engineer vacancy you will have a HNC or equivalent in electrical or mechanical or process engineering. As an individual with Authorised Person status, working towards Senior Authorised Person status, you will be required to have detailed technical knowledge and experience of Power Plant operations. It is essential for this role that you have experience of supervising an operational team and Strong communications skills.
