My client provide research, technical advice, technology solutions and services to customers in core markets of defence and security. They have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer (Machinery Health Data Analyst) to join their team on a permanent basis.

Role:
- To work within the Aerostructures line of business leading the analysis of machinery health data.

My client have a vacancy within their Aerostructures department for a mechanical engineer with a strong knowledge of modern data analysis techniques, to work on the development of improved diagnostics and prognostics techniques for mechanical systems.

The work will involve the analysis and manipulation of large, multi channel datasets, and the interpretation of these datasets in the context of complex mechanical systems.

The successful candidate will have proven ability in the development and application of data processing techniques, particularly within the Matlab environment, and have a solid understanding of the mathematical principles underlying these techniques. Moreover, the candidate must also be able to reason from basic physical principles to understand the content of the derived signals, and develop solutions in the light of this.

I would be an advantage to have worked with the diagnosis of mechanical systems, though not essential. The candidate will be expected to apply innovative thinking to a range of problems, be highly self motivated and lead the development of novel solutions through to project delivery in a multidisciplinary environment.

The right candidate will have proven ability in the following areas:
- A strong knowledge of mechanical systems and engineering.
- Detailed knowledge of gears and geared systems would be an advantage.
- Expertise in the advanced signal processing techniques relevant to machinery vibration and health analysis. (Significant track record in application of these techniques in relevant applications necessary.)

Candidates must be willing to undergo UK MOD Security Clearance checks.
