Senior Design Analysts are now required at this leading car manufacturer in Norfolk. As Senior Design Analyst – Powertrain CAE, you will perform analysis of powertrain related components and systems for functional and structural performance, including stiffness, strength and dynamic characteristics. The role involves the use of classical design calculations, supervision of practical tests, and the application of predictive computer software and finite element method.

In this role you will perform analysis tasks required within Powertrain CAE and assist other staff as necessary. You will also report and/or present analysis results, conclusions and recommendations to project groups as required. This will also involve helping to improve procedural processes and analytical techniques in order to grow the capability of Powertrain CAE. You will develop communication and reporting skills to show clear potential for a future supervisory technical or CAE team leader role.

Successful candidates will be qualified to degree level or equivalent in Auto, Mech, Aero
Engineering, Engineering Maths, Physics. Ideally you will come from an automotive
Background; however applications will also be considered from applicants with an Aero and
nuclear engineering background with proven technical and leadership qualities.

Significant Design Analysis experience is required for this role. You will also need experience in concept to production Powertrain; CAE application software expertise (Patran/Hypermesh pre/post software, Nastran, Abaqus solvers; experience of Theoretical/Finite Element Analysis, Multi-Body Dynamics, Project team environment experience and automotive experience. Pc literate, you will be developing technical expertise in this role.

Successful candidates will also be effective Communicators, numerate and have good reporting skills. You will ideally have the ability to think in 3D (interpret 3d models, ability to write computer programmes (Basic, Fortran, MS XL), be careful with data, calculations and be able to maintain full tidy documentation.

Some travel may be involved depending on the client’s and company’s requirements. Please note that two day shift working may be required depending on the project requirements. A UK Driving Licence is also required.
