Location: Ratcliffe-on-Soar, Nottinghamshire
Salary: Attractive Salary
Job Type: Permanent

Job Ref. Number:JB347v43

MECHANICAL ENGINEERS - SUPPLIER QUALITY SYSTEMS
POWER GENERATION
NOTTINGHAMSHIRE

Mechanical Engineers now required by this leading energy company in Nottinghamshire.

Over the coming years, our client, one of the UK’s leading integrated power and gas companies – generating and distributing electricity, and retailing power and gas –is embarking on a programme of new build in order to ensure security and diversity of supply. This programme will add to the UK fleet of power plant and include new technologies in clean generation.

In order to meet the challenges ahead, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Professional Mechanical Engineer to join the Supplier Quality team, the role of which is to assist project and asset managers in securing delivery of purchased equipment and services to specification and statutory requirements.
Service delivery is through practical engineers focussed on plant and manufacturing processes, utilising quality assurance as a key tool.

Much of the work undertaken by the team requires a hands on approach and as a consequence takes place in an industrial environment around turbines and boilers requiring close liaison with contract personnel.

The successful candidate is likely to possess a degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, and be the product of an industrial training scheme. Whilst the team covers all power plant areas, they are currently seeking expertise in pressure part manufacture and erection in order to ensure correct implementation of statutory codes and standards. As such, large scale boilers will be a focus area but an understanding of other key plant items will provide an initial advantage.

Background experience and knowledge base should be from manufacturing, construction, maintenance or engineering with a good appreciation of functionality and critical issues.

The Supplier Quality Systems (SQS) Engineer should ideally have all or at least some of the following attributes: detailed knowledge of National and International Standards in particular pressure part code; conversant with manufacturers production, programming and control; a sound working knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes; a practical understanding of plant functionality; a working knowledge of testing and measurement techniques.; hands-on engineer, confident in plant situations; competent technical report writing and confident presenter and conversant with modern quality assurance practices. A strong candidate will demonstrate an aptitude in several of the aforementioned skills with a view to developing in all areas over time.

This rewarding post offers variety of work, involving travel within the UK and for short periods overseas. You would be joining one of the UK’s leading energy suppliers; the second largest electricity generator in the UK and who own the second largest distribution network in the UK.
