MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEERS

Mechanical Design Engineers are now required to design new product schemes and layouts in conjunction with customers, suppliers and internal departments.

As Mechanical Design Engineer you will create design documentation to enable production including component drawings, assembly documentation & BOMs. You will undertake general administration tasks including documentation control and supplier queries. You will process modifications to existing designs using engineering change note system as well as assist in reviewing design system/methods in order to constantly improve, including Solidworks, AutoCAD and all design procedures. You will also undertake departmental reporting as required. You will also assist in setting up and controlling value engineering methods for cost reduction programmes. The mechanical Design Engineer is also responsible for supporting sales with design, technical and application support including raising and maintaining appropriate files as well as supporting production with design and technical support. Furthermore you will produce Engineering reports and complete timesheets.

Successful candidates will preferably be degree qualified (minimum HNC qualified) with considerable relevant experience. You will also require mechanical apprenticeship/experience of hands on engineering. An understanding of limits and fits is required. Experience of designing rotating mechanical equipment preferred (ideally electric motors) and Solidworks 3D-modelling software is essential. Familiarity with COSMOS is preferred. You will be capable of working both alone and as part of a small multi-disciplined team.
