Our client, the leading car manufacturer in Norfolk is now looking to recruit BIW Engineers to lead and participate in the design and engineering of automotive products around the manufacturing feasibility of BIW assembly processes. Guidance and control of other Manufacturing Department team member’s activities into projects will also be part of the remit. The individual will participate in the reporting of findings and be capable of supporting and presenting at client meetings. There will be off site working on occasions to support visits to suppliers and clients on business trips.
General working will be around the review of engineering data (clay models, CAD, 2D drawings and sketches) for manufacturing feasibility. In this role you will provide advice and recommendations to the engineering project team on manufacturing issues that affect the design direction around material selection, assembly process, tooling issues, cost and time estimation. Good understanding of BIW manufacturing principles is required, including all aspects of assembly processes and their development, GD&T, layouts, tooling specification, and costing.
