International Service Engineer – Turbomachinery

Salary: Excellent Basic Salary + Overtime + Benefits

Our client is a leading provider of rotating machinery solutions to many different markets across the World.

Due to expansion, they are currently looking for experienced rotating equipment services engineers to join their international team.

Purpose of the Job

Under the direction of Regional Service Manager provides after sales service, supervises installation, commissioning work and overhauls of equipment and complex systems built vendors/OEMs at customer sites.

Troubleshoots equipment problems.

Assures that work is carried out in accordance with the required specifications and quality standards and that health, safety and environmental policies are adhered to.

Produces service income for the Company.

Specific Job Responsibilities

1.Plans and handles installations, start-ups of new equipment as well as minor or major maintenance and rerate projects.

2.Acts as project manager or supervisor when overhauling major installations such as complete ethylene plant machinery trains where the equipment may be built by different OEM’s

3.Conducts investigations of product trouble including performance problems and takes corrective action as directed by the Regional Service Manager. May exercise independent judgement and corrective action plan depending on the nature of the trouble.

4.Supervises customer personnel, hired labour and service representative in the installation, repair or maintenance of equipment.

5.Participates in the training of customers and own personnel.

6.Acts in site manager capacity while directing work on the Company’s equipment as well as competitors’ equipment.

7.Makes customer courtesy calls to check inventories and promote the sale of parts, inspect new shipments, and sell service in conjunction with Sales Engineer.

8.Keeps Field Service Manager/Support Engineer promptly and thoroughly informed on all work performed, quality, performance and equipment problems, customer’s reaction to equipment and future sales potential.

9.Keeps installation backcharges from customers and/or mechanical contractors to a minimum through good judgement and prompt action.

10.Responsible for contributing new ideas to improve product design and appearance, enhance company service, and eliminate troubles.

Background and Experience

- BEng, BSc in Mechanical engineering or mechanical apprenticeship with at least 5 years of experience in the field of turbomachinery.
- Strong mechanical, thermodynamic aptitude for rotating machinery.
- Requires detailed knowledge of electrical and digital systems.
- Flexible, can cope with wide variety of problems, customers, cultures and site conditions.
- Fluency in 2 or more languages is desirable.
- You will be happy to spend long period of time out of the UK, approx 10 months per year.
