ENGINEERS – NUCLEAR GENERATION

Our client is now looking to recruit suitably qualified Engineers for their Nuclear Generation Business in Bristol. This company is one of the UK’s largest providers of energy consultancy and engineering support services. Their Nuclear, Power and Oil and Gas businesses are engaged in all, and actively growing capability for, all aspects of the developing energy market.
Within the Nuclear sector, their Generation business continues to assist their clients to maintain output and extend the life of their assets. Their work includes the design and specification of modifications required to meet safety requirements or operational improvements, so you will need to call upon all of your experience in nuclear power plant operation, reactor physics or radiological protection, as well as your engineering degree.
You will be required to undertake project management, engineering design and computer simulation modelling as part of a growing team producing work for the nuclear industry. Work will typically include liaising with clients and managing projects; feasibility and conceptual design studies; computer simulation modeling; site survey and inspection activities; analysis and design; specification writing; trouble shooting and problem-solving and technical due-diligence advice.
Successful candidates will be degree qualified in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. A sufficient and appropriate level of relevant industry experience is also required. Strong theoretical and practical skills in the following disciplines would be a distinct advantage: Power plant (mechanical and/or electrical); Combustion; Process plant; Structural integrity; Control and Instrumentation; Mechanical Handling; Environmental assessments and planning; Civil engineering and Project management (in a highly technical environment).
Experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial: operation and maintenance of power stations; renewable energy projects; thermal treatment of waste materials; development of independent power projects; combined heating, cooling and power systems; gas and steam turbines; steam and water systems.
Candidates should possess the following: a good level of competency in all Microsoft Office applications, ideally with the aptitude to learn sophisticated computer simulation modeling packages and specialist analytical software; excellent inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills; confidence, with the ability to work either independently or as part of a team; flexibility and willingness to travel to other offices both within the UK and overseas if required. You will also have strong career ambitions and be capable of building and maintaining strong business relationships with internal line managers and external contacts.
If not currently security cleared, candidates must be in a position to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance and will therefore be required to meet certain residency criteria.
