Electrical Engineer - Defence Reading £30000 - £40000
I am currently seeking applications from Electrical Engineer to join my clients multi-discipline design team working on an exciting major project. We are principally looking for engineers who have the capacity to learn and develop. My client will provide comprehensive training programmes as part of its staff development
This role will involve supporting a range of clients across the nuclear industry, including power generation, decommissioning and defence. This multi-client approach provides an interesting and varied work stream, and gives the successful candidate an opportunity to develop skills relevant to the nuclear industry as a whole - clearly valuable in this expanding area.
Responsibilities.
• Responsible for managing the electrical design aspects of substation refurbishment/re-kit projects and leading electrical aspects of major infrastructure projects from system studies and investment appraisals through to detailed design
• Act as Project Manager on electrical design projects or on electrical aspects of multidisciplinary utilities infrastructure design projects
• Mentoring and technical development of a team of junior electrical engineers
• Lead on the production of major bids
• Cost and time control and reporting.
• Specification, selection and justification of Electrical equipment.
• Generation of Front End Engineering Design packages.
• Electrical equipment assessment and justification reports.
Essential Skills
• Degree in electrical engineering
• Chartered Engineer (or working towards)
• Able to demonstrate sound technical experience
• A sufficient and appropriate level of Transmission or Distribution Network experience gained within a client organisation, engineering consultancy or equipment supplier
• Project management, including controls, planning and estimating and preparation of deliverable/work package
Desirable Skills
• Experience of the nuclear industry
• Experience of IEE Wiring Regulations BS7671
• Experience of transmission (132kV+) electrical plant and configuration design
• Experience of distribution (up to 132kV) electrical plant and configuration design
• Experience of protection and control design at Transmission and Distribution voltages
• Working within a multi-discipline engineering team and having a general appreciation of other disciplines’ constraints and requirements
