Electrical Systems Interface Engineers for Permanent roles in Stevenage, Hertfordshire
As the Electrical Systems and Interface Engineer you will have good problem solving skills to work within a small team of electrical system engineers in undertaking the design and analysis of Spacecraft Electrical Systems and their Interfaces including Power, Communications and Data Handling functions on the Gaia program and future Earth Observation and Science missions.
You will control and monitor the spacecraft electrical interfaces on current and future Earth Observation and Science missions. This will include:
- Support to all phases of Studies and Projects
- Maintaining the spacecraft Electrical interface control document (EICD)
- Support to all Service Module equipment circuit design reviews and evaluations
- Electrical support to testing on the Avionics Verification Bench (spacecraft electrical mock up)
- Requirements analysis and devolution to lower tier specifications
- Support to the Procurement of the Payload Data Handling unit
- Technical liaison with, and monitoring of, equipment suppliers to ensure their design meets the project requirements and to help resolve technical issues
- Preparation of subsystem test documentation and liaison with Assembly, Integration & Test to maximise commonality of approach at subsystem and system levels
- Potential travel overseas to work for short periods
Prior experience in the design of one or more spacecraft electrical systems is required, including:
- Telemetry and Telecommand
- On-board Data Handling
- Power System
- Harness
- Electronic Circuit design
This will have included developing expert knowledge in several of the following areas:
- Interface definition and control
- Verification & Test
- Multi-processor systems
- EEE parts
- Worst case analysis
- Electro-magnetic Compatibility
