ELECTRICAL/INSTRUMENTAION TECHNICIANS
GAS DISTRIBUTION

Circa £35,000 + Overtime
An opportunity has arisen for Electrical/Instrumentation Technicians to join a gas distribution consortium operating two of the largest gas distribution networks in the UK, delivering gas to 5.6 million customers safely, reliably and efficiently.
As an Electrical/Instrumentation Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and installation of Electrical or Instrumentation operational plant and installations located in hazardous and non-hazardous areas. Depending on your area of expertise, you would be required to process control systems, telemetry units, primary instrumentation, low voltage power supplies and batteries, gas control equipment and metering systems
As an Electrical Technician, you would be responsible for fault-finding and the repair and maintenance of all low voltage electrical systems to include; Gasholder antifreeze systems, standby power supplies, motors and associated controls, power distribution systems, small power and lighting systems, battery and charger systems.
As an Instrumentation Technician, you would be responsible for fault finding and the repair and maintenance of all aspects of instrumentation
Successful applicants need to have completed a recognised apprenticeship and have an ONC/HNC in either Instrumentation or Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Compex Certificate. For the post of Electrical Technician, possession of C&G 2381 and 2391 would also be an advantage.
The work can be physically demanding and candidates need to be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a variety of outdoor environments, including working at a height. Candidates also need to demonstrate the ability to use field systems and achieve high standards of safety and technical competence.
A current driving licence is required for all positions, as are good inter-personal skills and leadership qualities. The successful candidate will be expected to work variable hours, including working away from home within the UK and participate in a stand by rota.
Salary: circa £35,000 including standby + overtime depending on skills and experience
