Our client is now looking to recruit C & I Engineers for their Nuclear Generation Business in Bristol. This company is one of the UK’s largest providers of nuclear, power and energy consultancy and engineering support services. Within the Nuclear sector, they have an exceptional reputation of delivering innovative, cost-effective business and engineering solutions to owners, operators, regulators and suppliers to nuclear licensed sites.

Applications are particularly welcome from degree qualified engineers with an aptitude for leadership, a desire to make a real difference to key clients, working on projects with high safety significance.

Work will involve working within a multi-disciplinary team providing assistance to their client on tasks such as plant modifications and preparation or revision of safety case arguments and calculations. For example this may include investigating requirements for installation of a new, or replacement of an existing electrical, electronic or programmable plant item or system and preparation of a specification. You will also prepare safety justification for the new or replacement item(s). Working with external contractors through the design and implementation phases of a project, in particular you will help to ensure that claims on the equipment made in the safety justification can be supported.

Successful candidates will be degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic or Control & Instrumentation Engineering. A sufficient and appropriate level of relevant industrial experience is also required. Candidates will need to meet certain criteria in order to attain an appropriate level of UK security clearance required by our client.
Ideally candidates will also be chartered or working towards Chartered status. Previous nuclear power station site experience and conventional plant, fuel route and safety experience would be highly desirable, as would experience of working within a safety-related environment. Previous experience gained within a consultancy/commercial environment as well as knowledge of the project lifecycle, safety lifecycle, IEC 61508, safety case, integrity targets and functional safety would be highly advantageous.

Furthermore you will be an effective communicator and problem solver. You will also be flexible and self motivated as well as questioning and challenging when appropriate. Please note that travel to other company sites may be necessary.

Applicants for this position must also have the right to work in the UK without restriction. If not currently security cleared, candidates must be in a position to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance and will therefore be required to meet certain residency criteria.
