An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Area Manufacturing Engineer to join a customer-focused, innovative solutions-driven company which makes hot-rolled, cold-rolled and metallic-coated strip steels and provides solutions in product design, processing technologies and management of the supply chain.

As Area Manufacturing Engineer, you will support the Manufacturing Manager with the coordination of the Area’s engineering activities and the implementation of appropriate engineering standards to drive manufacturing performance.

In particular, you will ensure that engineering performance is measured and analysed and that improvements are implemented to deliver an overall manufacturing performance that meets or exceeds the Annual Plan. You will continuously develop and implement a cost effective preventative maintenance regime in line with the maintenance strategy for the Works Area (e.g. CRP, HRP etc.). You will also champion and drive the failure analysis system and contribute to the development, maintenance and implementation of the Manufacturing Improvement Plan for the Manufacturing Manager’s Area.

In addition, you will assist the Manufacturing Manager with the coordination of activities within the area and ensure that all engineering activities are carried out in line with the standards and strategy for the Works Area.

Furthermore, you will coordinate the process of planning, executing and reviewing down day and stop period activity across your area of responsibility. You will provide support to the Manufacturing Engineers within your area of responsibility and initiate the introduction of “expert” support as and when required. You will also coach others through continuous improvement activity in order to instil high standards and develop their knowledge and skills for overall business benefit.

Finally, you will identify and plan development requirements for direct reports, prepare and project manage and/or project engineer SRE and other medium term improvements, select technology in line with the standards for the Works Area, risk assess proposed improvements and ensure compliance with the management of change process.

Within your area of accountability, you will ensure full compliance with appropriate Health & Safety, Environmental, Statutory, Mandatory and Quality standards.

Qualified to HNC/Degree level in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, you will have experience of project management, project design, maintenance, failure analysis and budget control, ideally within a heavy industry. You will also have experience of Operations/Manufacturing.
