Service Desk Support Engineer £20-22,000 (Remote Monitoring) Horsham

Are you a mechanically biased engineer looking for a career move in 2010 that will use your knowledge of reciprocating engines (diesel/petrol or gas), control systems, information technology & customer service skills?

Our client, a leader in green energy generation requires someone to interrogate their installed generation equipment (Combined Heat & Power) from their Horsham offices to support both their service engineers in the field to maintaining excellent customer relations with their national customer base.

This is a shift position where you will be sitting in front of a PC taking live engineering data from their units, analysing, rectifying and resetting faults wherever possible, initiating remedial action when required, and producing performance reports for management.

This is a fast paced position as when on the early shift (06:00 to 14:00) you will be dealing with live issues, interrogating downloaded historical data while dealing with customer and engineer queries to being ready for a ‘hand over’ to your colleagues for the late shift (14:00 to 23:00). Early shift will be 7.5 hours & the late shift will be 9 hours & you will work 4 early shifts followed by 2 days off & then 4 late shifts followed by 2 days off - so “4 on, 2 off”.

Once you have been trained to use their systems you will move away from normal office hours to work their shift pattern which will attract a shift premium of 15%.

To be successful you should understand combustion principles relative to compression & spark ignition, mechanically biased with an electrical/electronic understanding and be proficient with MS Office applications, Excel in particular. Mechanically qualified to C&G Lev III / ONC / HNC level desired.
