Senior Electrical Engineer Power Generation

We are currently seeking to recruit a “Hands On” Senior Electrical Engineer to join one of the UK’s leading providers of landfill gas power generation. The Senior Electrical Engineer will carry out HV testing and project manage new connections. This is a home based role that would required UK and international travel as well as reporting to the head office in the North East several times a week.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for carrying out high voltage testing on all the HV and LV electrical plant found on landfill gas power generation sites such as transformers, generators, circuits and switch gear etc. You will also be responsible for creating and implementing periodic inspection programs for both HV and LV systems and equipment. This role would also encompass man management as you would be expected to supervise and train junior electrical technicians to attain SAP or AP status.

The second part of this role would see the successful candidate project managing new connections and helping to negotiate cost, protection requirements and time constraints with regional electrical companies (REC’s) to maximize company production and profits. Other duties may include carrying out feasibility studies for new business developments as well as some electrical design.

The successful candidate must have relevant electrical qualifications and accreditations in order to carry out HV testing, Chartered status would also be preferred. He/She must also have relevant industry experience within the power generation or power distribution sector and be Senior Authorised Person on systems up to 20kV with capacities up to 4MW.

This position will be regarded as a senior position and in turn will attract a salary of between £30-50,000 depending on experience and benefits including a company car (with fuel card), pension (company contribution currently 5.5%), medical scheme (BUPA) etc
