Senior Software / Electronics Engineer to £30-40,000 + Bonus - Winchester

Design of high-speed optical-electronic visual inspection sorting machines that requires real time embedded software skills employing C or C++ with TI fixed point DSP programming. Windows applications with GUI design/development using C & C++ builder with embedded systems hardware design.

Additionally your experience might come from VHDL design using Altera FPGA’s, DSP firmware using TI DSP’s. Knowledge of CameraLink and PCI interfaces desired together with a relevant degree with your experience coming from a real-time software design environment.

A good technical aptitude able to cope with mechanical as well as electrical/electronic problems will be required as the role is wide ranging and includes many more activities than the job title would suggest. Some European travel will be required although the role is predominantly office based. You will need to be able to learn new concepts quickly, be self-motivated and able to communicate well. Clean driving license desired to travel to customer sites or attending international shows, mainly in Europe.

Technology incorporates DSP configuration with the latest ‘MC’ technology to process in four colours with sub-millimetre resolution looking at more than 200,000 objects every minute utilising high speed line scan cameras with wide spectral range and optics with powerful software to make instantaneous decisions on colour, shade, size or shape to specified criteria. High speed multi processor electronics to control pneumatics for accurate defect rejection on vibrating conveyors.

Applicants will need to be highly motivated, capable of working in small teams who have proven project management and organisational abilities, in return the company offer 24 days holiday + 8 statutory, private medical insurance, travel insurance together with their private contributory company pension scheme together with a negotiable salary dependant on experience, real time, C & C++ & DSP architecture will attract the lower salary on offer, this plus GUI design & C++ builder and firmware design using TI DSP’s & PCI interfaces will attract the higher salary.
