My client is a leader in the defence industry and is currently looking for a Local procurement Manager who specialises in Mechanisms and Structure.
This is a permanent position based in Stevenage.

The role is to define and implement the best practice procurement associated with the product requirements to ensure that processes are maintained, technical requirements are understood and achieved and that the product is to the best commercial advantage, optimal schedule and adhering quality.

The role will involve both internal and external relationships.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Demonstrable experience in manufacturing environment
Procurement with demonstrable commercial abilities.
Project management

PREFERRED SKILLS

Degree or equivalent in Business Studies
Contractual knowledge
CIPS qualified

MAIN ACTIVITIES

Work with engineering, planning and requisitioners to agree on optimal design and agree on best suppliers to be nominated.

Support Vendor Performance activities

Follow up Purchase orders and Invoices

Negotiate terms and condition with suppliers

Identify cost improvement opportunities

Manage budget allocations

Taking responsibility in solving problems arising during the procurement process

Interact and coordinate work requirement and identify workload
