A fantastic opportunity has become available for a full time RCW (Residential Children’s Worker). The children are between age 8 and 18 years. Our aim is to provide positive support to children and their families within the framework of the Children Act 1989 and Care Standards Act 2000, to enable children to develop individually whilst aiming to achieve their full potential. We have recently opened new units so this is a time of exciting change and development for the service.

Proven experience in childcare is essential, and an aptitude for working with children who are very challenging. You need an understanding of the needs of children, the ability to initiate and support creative play and good communication skills. An NVQ level 3 in childcare or equivalent would be required. Due to the specialized nature of this work, candidates should be able to demonstrate their understanding of the needs of young people. A full manual driving license is essential, as many of the homes are in isolated locations and you will be required to drive the young people to appointments, home visits, local authorities etc.
