Engine Build Technician
Location Northampton
Purpose of Job
Working on a variety of programmes you will be responsible for building prototype engines. Duties will include preparing components for assembly, recording critical engine assembly measurements, modifying and fabricating engine components, as well as providing support and presenting data to engineers.
Duties
1. To build and install prototype engines
2. To prepare components for assembly
3. To install full vehicle instrumentation packages
4. To carry out fabrication and fitment of prototype parts
5. To record critical engine build data
6. To contribute to problem solving
7. To support off-site/overseas secondments
8. To be conversant with all aspects of basic measuring equipment
9. To have good fabrication and machining skill
10. To help and assist in report writing
11. To raise Engineering concerns where applicable
12. To work in a manner safe for self and others in compliance with the Health, Safety and Environmental policy
13. To support other activities as required
Qualifications
Automotive City & Guilds
ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering
Skills and Experience
An understanding of base engine operation and a working knowledge of engine management systems is required
Previous experience within a prototype engine build environment would be beneficial but not essential
An understanding of vehicle electrical systems

Hours of Work
Standard Hours:
Mon – Thursday 07:30 – 16:45
Fri 07:30 – 12:30
This is a temporary role for an initial 4 week period offering £22,936pa pro rata
