An aerospace client of ours based in Waterlooville currently requires a pressure system technician (mechanical).
As a hands-on ‘Technician’ the successful candidate will work within a small team responsible for pressure testing of underwater system products and production pressure test equipment, regulators, pressure relief valves, hoses etc. Included in the responsibilities are the calibration and maintenance of test equipment used on-site at customer facilities. Although water is primarily the test medium, some testing does involve the use of high pressure air/gases. A key element of the position is that as a site authorised person on pressure systems, the role includes preparation of Written Schemes of Examination (WSE) for approval by a ‘Competent Person/Body’ to ensure compliance and safe working practices that meet the requirements of the ‘Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000′.

Other responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out maintenance, repair and calibration of Pressure Test Equipment iaw WSE’s.
- Diagnostic on equipment when required.
- Pressure testing of underwater systems product hardware.
- Ensuring capital items of pressure test equipment are maintained and within proof date.
- Continuous improvement activities within the area.
- Maintaining pressure test records (both electronic and hard-copies)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Essential
Mechanical engineering apprenticeship
proven ability working within a Pressure Systems Test environment
Basic IT skills (MSWord, MSExcel)
Understanding of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000
Desirable
HNC in Mechanical Engineering
Proven ability within a Pressure System Test environment working too Written Scheme of Examination (WSE)
Experience in the use of both water and high pressure air/gases as a pressure medium
