Payload Electrical Systems Engineer Portsmouth salary negotiable according to experience in region of 25 to 40
Experience required:
Practical proficiency gained from Electrical Systems and Signalling Engineering posts in a military, defence or avionics industrial environment. Knowledge of space segment physical environment and design drivers

Tools/Equipment:
Mandatory: PC literate, MS Office Desirable: MS Access, Visio

Qualifications:
Mandatory: Degree in Electronics and or Electrical Engineering or Physics
Desirable: Relevant higher degree

Personal Qualities:
Team player, well organised, communicative and determined, with the ability to work on their own initiative

Outline Job Profile:
A vacancy exists for an electrical systems engineer to carry out electrical systems tasks on major communications satellite payload projects. Particular tasks are to both capture and clarify requirements for the design and definition of payload interfaces. This includes but is not necessarily limited to, telecommand / control and telemetry, dc wire harness, power systems and distribution and support to other disciplines e.g. thermal / mechanical aspects of the payload designs. To accomplish this, the successful applicant will be required to liaise with customer representatives and subcontractor personnel and attendance at the associated design reviews.. However we do expect applicants to have a genuine interest in working in the space industry and in the field of spacecraft/payload electrical systems in particular. In view of the international nature of the business, some overseas travel will be essential.

Candidate Profile:
Suitable candidates will have:
Degree in a relevant discipline
Technical competence in Electrical Systems Engineering
Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
A methodical approach to work, with sufficient commitment and drive to complete tasks, even where adverse conditions are encountered
Strong analytical skills
The experience of working directly with customers and with the ability to present ideas and concepts to the customer with authority
The ability to efficiently organise and perform their work.
The ability to generate innovative solutions and to communicate them
Willingness to travel overseas

Specific Tasks to be Undertaken:
Specific tasks are likely to include several of the following:
Participation in communication payload projects/proposals/studies
Requirements analysis
Design and definition of payload interfaces, telecommand and telemetry requirements, DC wire harness and power supplies
Design review of payload interfaces
Equipment specification development
Validation and test strategy development and specification
Liaison with resource managers to secure engineering resources needed to fulfil the technical tasks
Liaison with customer representatives and participation in design reviews and meetings
