Lead RF Engineer - Group Leader, Portsmouth, salary negotiable according to experience
Experience required:
Mandatory: A proven track record in RF communications systems or equipments, gained in a professional position.
Experience in several of the following:
Technical management or team leadership gained in a systems environment
Spaceborne communications system design and analysis
Payload system design and analysis
Payload integration, validation and test
Payload equipments design/build/test (e.g. HPA, LNA s, DSP s, RF Filters, Antennas)
Digital and analogue communications System, sub-system, and equipment specification writing
Requirements management
Tools/Equipment
Mandatory: PC literate, MS Office Desirable: PV Wave, Visual basic, ADS
Qualifications:
Mandatory: Degree in Engineering/ Electronics/Science/Mathematics Desirable: Higher degree in Communications/Aerospace Engineering

Specific Tasks to be Undertaken:
Specific tasks are likely to include several of the following:
Provide line management function for team of RF systems engineers (nominally 10)
Work package management within schedule and budget constraints
Participation in communication payload proposals/studies
Participation in communications system/payload requirements analysis
Participation in trade-offs of payload architectures and interfaces
Participation in communications payload RF system design
Participation in payload RF system performance analysis
Support to equipment specification development
Support to validation and test strategy development and specification
Support to payload integration/test
Liaison with customer representatives and participation in design reviews and meetings
An experienced RF Systems Engineer with line management/team leadership experience is required to lead a small team of RF systems engineers working on advanced telecommunications payloads. As group leader, the successful applicant will provide a line management function for the individual team members as well as supporting them in their day to day tasks encompassing payload system design and analysis, specification and definition of hardware, payload system integration, liaison with customer representatives and in the resolution of technical issues. Some overseas travel will be necessary.
