ENGINEERING MANAGER / HERTFORDSHIRE / £NEG

* Our client’s Earth Observation, Navigation & Science (ENS) Business Unit has a number of large scientific spacecraft programmes for launch towards the end of this decade & beyond
* In this exciting role, the Engineering Manager will be the lead on all engineering aspects of challenging projects & will provide major technical interface with Customer (ESA) & with subcontractors
* You will also be responsible for ensuring ENS system engineering processes are effectively applied throughout design lifecycles
We are keen to hear from ENGINEERING MANAGERS with the following mix of skills:
- Experience in system engineering & engineering management capacity
- Experience with spacecraft projects for a large institutional or commercial Customer
- Proven ability to work on a number of complex interrelated issues
- Capable of building/leading a mixed discipline team building up to at least 40 engineers
- Familiar with all aspects of the project lifecycle from design to production, including design reviews, system & subsystem test
Tasks for the ENGINEERING MANAGER will include:
* Develop top-level system architecture
* Lead overall system design process
* Agree system requirements with customer
* Conduct technical evaluation of supplier proposals, in conjunction with the project & customer teams
* Manage Project Engineering Team to achieve technical, financial & programmatic requirements
* Organise technical reviews of major elements & ensure internal review process is applied across the project
