Aeriodynamics Skill Group Leader / AVON / £45,000 - £50,000 / Bonus + Excellent Package

This is a fantastic opportunity within an international organisation. The task of the skill group leader is to manage the activities which encompasses Aerodynamics-specific CAD tools, shape deformation methods, shape design optimisation tools, design space search tools, and frameworks for the effective development, delivery and exploitation of methods and tools. The role will include management of the internal resource, on-site sub-contractors and fixed price packages. The activities will include budget planning, undertaking performance/development reviews, and ensuring training plans are in place to develop the skills required to undertake current and future work.

Essential:

- Industrial experience in the field of aerodynamic method development and support
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of aircraft aerodynamic design
- Knowledge and experience of numerical optimisation methods
- Knowledge and experience of geometry generation for aerodynamic design
- Knowledge of common mathematical representations of 3D shapes for engineering
- Knowledge and experience of high performance computing systems
- Application of RANS CFD within an engineering context including analysis and interpretation of the results
- Familiarity with the principles for rapid aerodynamic analysis. e.g. panel methods, lifting line, boundary layer methods.
- Knowledge of the fundamental techniques for CFD mesh generation, both structured and unstructured.
- Knowledge and experience of the fundamental techniques for preparation of geometry for CFD
- Knowledge of the fundamental techniques for CFD methods, both Euler and RANS
- Knowledge and experience of collaborative software engineering projects
- Experience in Unix, and one of C++, Java, Python
