AIT Software Engineer – Test System Designers x 3, contracts for initial 6 months rate to 35ph (SC Clearance) based Portsmouth
The applicant will have qualification and experience in Software and RF:
Essential: Software skills:
SQL server databases, relational database architecture
Software development process and methodology (CMM; ISO 12207; SSADM; UML; etc.)
National Instruments TestStand
Microsoft Visual Studio (C++,VB)
Xml (schema, scripts etc.)
Software development process and methodology (CMM; ISO 12207; SSADM; UML; etc.)
RF skills or similar - a combination of the following of the following)
Experience in Network Analysis and Spectrum analysis
Ideally familiar with Precision Network Analyser: at measurements and driver level
High level instrumentation control language
Familiar with Power Meter and all components involved in power measurements
RF measurement and test experience
Antenna measurement experience would be a plus
NB Embedded people are not suitable for this role as they operate at too low a level
Outline Job Profile
The main role of the applicant will be to develop and support the software used on the Payload test system. The development of the Test Software is based on the Payload Test Requirements from which software requirements need to be derived. During the test campaign, the test results are reviewed by AIT internal customer – the System Validation Team – and this may result in changes in these requirements.
The role includes support to AIT operation and support to the PTS hardware team: the applicant may be involved with the setup of the test system hardware; with its calibration and with its utilisation during the payload test campaign.
An understanding of Telecommunication Payload build and design would be a plus.
The applicant will be a team player ready to work in a rapidly changing requirements environment. She/he will be able to integrate easily and quickly into AIT teams. She/he will have high self motivation and good problem solving skills (technical, logistical and organizational).
The position may require support of the Spacecraft test campaign overseas (France; Germany; Bangalore; etc.)
The position may require shift work; overtime and on-call support.
